Al-Aziz

AL-‘AZĪZ (العزيز) The All-Mighty, The Honorable
RABBUL ‘IZZAH (رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ) Lord of Might, Owner of Honor
AL-A’AZZ (الأعزّ) The Most Almighty, The Most Honorable

Linguistically, ‘IZZ originally means strength (Quwwah), severity (Shiddah) and conquest (Ghalabah). AL-AZIZ is the One whose strength, glory and power are unique and cannot be attained by mankind. He is the source of all strength and power. He is the ultimate in honor, whose nobility are above all others. He has complete mastery over all of creation.

Your honor is only in Islam. – “Those who take disbelievers for protectors (or helpers or friends) instead of believers, do they seek honor, power and glory with them? Verily, then to Allah belongs all honor, power and glory. [An-Nisa 4:139]. Honor each trust you are given, in your dealings with others, as well as your own body. – The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “A Muslim is inviolable to another Muslim: his blood, his wealth and his honor.” [Muslim]. Defend someone’s honor. – The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever defends the honor of his brother, then Allah will protect his face from the Hellfire on the Day of Resurrection.” [Tirmidhi]
