Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest.
How perfect He is, the One Who has placed this (transport) at our service, and we ourselves would not have been capable of that, and to our Lord is our final destiny.
O Allah, we ask for righteousness and piety in this journey of ours,
and we ask You for deeds which please You.
O Allah, facilitate our journey and let us cover the distance quickly.
O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Successor over the family.
O Allah, I take refuge in You from the difficulties of travel,
from having a change of hearts and being in a bad predicament,
and I take refuge in You from ill-fated outcome in wealth and family.

Light but heavy

Abu Hurayrah (Radiyallahu Anhu – may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: “There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in the scales and are dear to the Merciful:

سُبحَانَ اللّهِ وَ بِحَمْدِهِ سُبحَانَ اللّهِ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration
SUBHAN-ALLAHI WA BIHAMDIH SUBHAN-ALLAHIL ADHIM

Translation
Glory be to Allah and His is the praise, Glory be to Allah, The Greatest

 [Bukhari and Muslim]

Believers are requested to say them a lot (in Arabic) in all cases, in all positions, everywhere and at all times, any time. It is always best to end our meeting with Allah ﷻ with any words of praises after offering our Salah (prayer).

The best times for saying Adh-kar are:

  1. After Fajr prayer until the sun rises
  2. After Asr prayer until the sun goes down

These are the times in which the angels change their shifts, and both witness your acts of worship! So when they go up to heaven, Allah ﷻ asks them about what they have recorded. Then He orders them to ignore all the sins in the books that started and ended with Adhkar. Allah is Al-Karim (The Most Generous).

The Prophet ﷺ said that the inhabitants of Paradise would even make no effort in TASBIH. He said that the believers will be saying them as natural as they are breathing, they will be inspired by TASBIH, the only form of worship in Paradise.

Prostration of recitation

SUJUD AT-TILAWAH

Sujud At-Tilawah is one prostration caused by recitation on the word “Sujud,” either inside or outside the Salah (prayer). It is Sunnah to do it, as proven from the Hadith of Zayd ibn Thabit (radiyallahu anhu) and in another Hadith of Umar ibn Al-Khattab (radiyallahu anhu).

THERE ARE 3 TEXTUAL MARKS

  1. A horizontal dash placed under the word (sometimes over it) indicating Sujud.
  2. A characteristic mark at the end of the verse denoting the exact point for Sujud.
  3. Another marginal sign opposite the end of the same verse, the word ‘Sajdah‘ is written inside it.

DUA FOR SUJUD AT-TILAWAH

Ali (radiyallahu anhu) reported that when the Prophet ﷺ prostrated, he would say:

اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ سَجَدْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَلَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ سَجَدَ وَجْهِى لِلَّذِى خَلَقَهُ وَصَوَّرَهُ وَشَقَّ سَمْعَهُ وَبَصَرَهُ تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ

Transliteration

ALLAHUMMA, LAKA SAJADTU WA BIKA AMANTU WA LAKA ASLAMTU. SAJADA WAJ-HIYA LILLADHI KHALAQAHU WA SAWWARAHU WA SHAQQA SAMÁHU WA BASARAHU, BIHAWLIHI WA QUWWATIHI, FATABARAK-ALLAHU AHSANUL KHALIQIN.

Translation
O Allah! “O Allah, to You have I prostrated, in You have I believed, and to You have I submitted. I have prostrated my face to the One who created me and formed me in the best of forms. He is the One who gave it hearing and sight. Blessed be Allah, the Best of Creators.”

[Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Hadith 1695]

Transliteration
ALLAHUMMA, UKTUB LI BIHA INDAKA AJRAN WADA’ ÁNNI BIHA WIZRAN WAJÁLHA LI ÍNDAKA DHUKH-RAN WA TAQABBALHA MINNI KAMA TAQABBALTAHA MIN ÁBDIKA DAWUD.

Translation

O Allah! Record for me, a reward with You for it, remove a sin from me by it, and store it away for me with You for it, and accept it from me as You accepted it from Your worshiper Dawud.

[Jami At-Tirmidhi 3424, Chapter 33, Book 48, Hadith 55]

  2. How to do Sujud At-Tilawah?

Love your faith

And know that, among you there is the Messenger of Allah. If he were to obey you (i.e. follow your opinions and desires) in much of the matter, you would surely be in trouble, but Allah has endeared the faith to you and has beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger) hateful to you. These! They are the rightly guided ones.

Dua taken from the above mentioned verse

Transliteration
ALLAHUMMA, HABBIB ILAYNAL IMAN WA ZAYYINHU FI QULUBINA
WA KARRIH ILAYNAL KUFRA WAL FUSUQA WAL ‘ISYAN WAJ’ALNA MINAR RASHIDIN

Translation
O Allah, let us love faith and beautify it in our hearts, and let us hate disbelief, wickedness and disobedience, and make us among those rightly-guided

Truth and falsehood

Follow the truth and enjoin others to do it and avoid the falsehood and warn others from doing it.

Transliteration
ALLAHUMMA ARINAL HAQQA HAQQAW WARZUQNAT TIBA’AH
WA ARINAL BATILA BATILAW WARZUQNAJ TINABAH

Translation
O Allah! Enable us to see the Truth as Truth and give us the ability to follow it.
And show us the falsehood as false and give us the ability to refrain from it.
